DIOHANDI
archiving...

November 2019 - March 14, 2020

Since 1985, in parallel to her artistic activities, Diohanti lovingly and respectfully collected, filed and preserved the archives of her artists friends—the sculptors Sosso Houtopoulou-Kontaratou, Achilleas Apergis and Ioanna Spiteri-Veropoulou, the painter Irene Apergi, part of the archive of art historian Tonis Spiteris (whose main archive is kept at the Telloglion Art Foundation of the University of Thessaloniki), and painters Vera Houtzoumi and Yannis Mihas (the latter's archive is kept at the National Museum of Contemporary Art).

The Contemporary Greek Art Institute hosted, for the first time outside Diohanti's studio and in a similar format, a presentation of the archives which comprised material organised in files per artist, in chronological order: invitations, brochures, press clippings, photographs, personal notes, correspondence, etc. as well as books, catalogues and dictionaries. The exhibition featured also original posters, photos of works and exhibitions, drawings, sculptures, video screenings, etc.

After the presentation, this precious material will remain at the Contemporary Greek Art Institute to enrich its collections and greatly contribute in documenting the artistic developments in Greece in the second half of the twentieth century.
